Otiti Fires Back at Naniās Media Team, Insists on Transparency and Accountability
By Lucky UtoĀ
Comrade Akpovoke Otiti has responded to the media team of DESOPADEC Chairman, Chief John Nani, defending his earlier call for accountability and rejecting claims that his comments were reckless or politically motivated.
In a statement, Otiti said his position was misunderstood and deliberately misrepresented.
He explained that his call was not driven by politics but by his duty as a journalist and stakeholder to promote transparency and public interest.
He maintained that raising concerns about a public official who may have political ambitions is a legitimate responsibility, not mere speculation.
According to him, such concerns are based on observable developments within the political space, not rumours as claimed by Naniās media team.
Otiti also denied endorsing any political aspirant, challenging the media team to provide evidence to support their allegations.
He described their claims of āhidden interestsā as baseless and an attempt to distract from the real issue.
He further criticized the media team for attacking his professional ethics instead of addressing the substance of his argument, noting that journalism is meant to question authority and encourage public debate.
Reaffirming his commitment to ethical journalism, Otiti said his stance is aimed at preventing conflict of interest and ensuring public offices are not used for personal political gain.
He concluded by urging the media team to focus on facts and engage in constructive dialogue, stressing the need for open and responsible public discourse.
