Governor Oborevwori
By Andrew Darah
When Sheriff  Oborevwori stepped into office in May 2023, a storm of cynicism swept through Delta State’s political circles. Prominent voices questioned his ability to govern, citing his “underrated” background and alleged lack of gravitas. Some went as far as declaring that Oborevwori “does not have the capacity to be a Governor where they are. Media headlines shouted “demonic opposition” and “compulsive criticism” from various pressure groups that doubted his capacity to deliver on the ambitious M.O.R.E. Agenda, but now Oborevwori has turned those doubts into a showcase of tangible results. His administration has Over 510 road and bridge projects covering 1,450 km underway with several of them already completed. Flagship achievements include the Ughelli‑Asaba dual carriageway, the Okpanam‑Ibusa Bypass, and the Trans‑Warri‑Ode‑Itsekiri Road with 18 bridges. Massive flyovers at Uromi Junction (Agbor), PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, Enerhen Junction and Otovwodo Junction – Ughelli are being built by Julius Berger, slated for completion this year 2026 .
For Riverine & Rural Connectivity, the Ayakoromo Bridge, Orere Bridge, and numerous internal roads in Warri South West, and other riverine communities.
For Health & Education, he is Renovating primary‑health centres, equipping general hospitals and adding dialysis machines and CT scanners, and New colleges of health technology at Ovrode and Ozoro.
*Why the Critics Are Silenced*
Commissioner Charles Aniagwu, the state’s Information Commissioner, repeatedly stresses that Oborevwori *”prefers to silence critics with projects, not words”*. The governor himself has publicly dismissed detractors, noting that those who questioned his academic credentials have been “put to shame” by the visible progress. Even former detractors, now admit Oborevwori was “underrated” and has “astounded many” with his performance .
In short, the chorus of doubt that greeted Oborevwori’s inauguration has been drowned out by a symphony of completed highways, soaring revenue – proof that the governor is delivering far beyond the skeptics’ low expectations.
The choice of Governor Oborevwori by former Governor Okowa is a good choice because Oborevwori is actually building on the more Agenda as specified by Former Governor Okowa. Okowa who initiated the more Agenda slogan during his time carried out several projects and Okowa did promised us like John the Baptist that the one coming after him will do more and better than him, and today we face the reality of this firm statement of Okowa. Okowa built over  883  road projects (1,815 km) and upgraded dozens of schools and health centres in his time. Oborevwori is now in 2 years and few months delivering more than 510 roads and bridge projects under his M.O.R.E Agenda.
Yesterday during the flag off of the Otovwodo junction flyover in Ughelli, some one asked that I relate to him the usefulness of a flyover to a community, but because of the rush and my commitment to duties, I could not really explain to him to my satisfaction, but I will just dedicate a few lines here to address that question; A flyover is a bridge that allows one road to cross over another without intersecting at the same level. It’s primary purpose is to eliminate traffic bottlenecks by separating traffic flows which dramatically improves safety, reduces travel time, and supports economic activity. Flyovers Reduces Congestion and Vehicles no longer have to stop at junctions. Easy gridlock especially during peak hours, saves time, faster travel – meaning commuters will now spend less time on the road, boosting productivity,
Boosts Economy, Smoother traffic flow and encourages trade.
Supports Urban Growth , Better connectivity, attracts investment and improves quality of life”.
*Why a Flyover Is Needed (Especially in Ughelli)* Ughelli is a bustling commercial and educational hub in Delta State. It’s rapid population growth has put immense pressure on the road network, especially at *Otovwodo Junction*, which has become notorious for daily traffic jams. These delays cost commuters valuable time, hurt businesses, and increase pollution. So a flyover at the Otovwodo junction will Provide a permanent solution to chronic congestion, Connect key routes (East–West Road and other arterial roads) smoothly, ensuring seamless movement of goods and people, Improve safety by removing dangerous intersection points where accidents frequently occur.
A flyover isn’t just a piece of infrastructure, it’s a catalyst for progress. By solving traffic problems, it unlocks economic potential, enhances safety, and improves the overall quality of life for residents. For Ughelli, the Otovwodo Flyover represents a bold step toward a more connected, prosperous future.
