The project, awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, is expected to be completed within 12 months and will feature dual carriageways, roundabouts, and solar-powered street lighting.
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, Oborevwori stated that the flyover is part of his MORE Agenda to drive sustainable urban renewal.
He added that before the commencement of the project, interim measures, including alternative routes, have been made to ease traffic congestion, and that the project will boost commerce, attract investment, and improve aesthetics.
The Governor assures completion without borrowing, citing fiscal discipline, as Julius Berger Nigeria Plc vows to deliver to global standards.
In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun (Barr.) Jaro Movudu Egbo, KSC, could hardly conceal his excitement as he lauded the governor for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to infrastructure development.
Barr. Egbo described the flyover as a dream come true for the people of Ughelli North, noting that the joy and pride of the residents were evident in the massive turnout at the ceremony.
“We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone. The happiness on the faces of our people speaks volumes. Ughelli North is proud of our governor,” he said.
He further highlighted the economic, social and aesthetic benefits of the flyover, stressing that beyond easing traffic, the project would stimulate commerce, attract investment and significantly improve the visual appeal of the environment.
The council chairman used the occasion to call on residents to support and cooperate with the state government, especially during the construction period, and encouraged continued support for the leadership of Governor Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing continuity as key to sustained development.
The groundbreaking ceremony drew a massive turnout of stakeholders, including traditional rulers, politicians, and residents, all optimistic about the project’s impact on Ughelli’s development.
