The Ughelli North Local Government Area in Delta State, Nigeria, commemorated the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a solemn ceremony at the Public Field, Ughelli.
The event was led by Executive Chairman Olorogun Barr. Jaro Omovudu Egbo, who paid tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes and reaffirmed support for veterans and their families.
Egbo emphasized the importance of collaboration between the local government and the Nigerian Legion to ensure the welfare of veterans and their families.
He called on citizens to support the development and security initiatives of the Federal and Delta State Governments.
The event featured the laying of wreaths, prayers, and solidarity with veterans and their families.
S/SGT. Alexander Obire (JP) of the Nigerian Legion commended Egbo’s leadership and highlighted achievements of the Ughelli North administration, including conflict resolution, improved market administration, and infrastructure projects.
The ceremony reinforced the community’s commitment to peace, unity, and service, and concluded with prayers for the fallen *heroes and* blessings for Ughelli North and Nigeria.
