Ovu community of Agbon Kingdom, Ethiope East local government area of Delta state, will be celebrating her annual Efa Festival on February 13th and 14th
The Osedjo, Chief Jacob lghodaye Eyagomare, who is also the Izomo-Agadagidi and the Oyingbo vii, disclosed this to newsmen at the weekend.
While announcing the date of the festival, Chief Jacob Eyagomare, advised all sons and daughters of Ovu community to comport themselves in orderly manner during the seven days the festival will last by ensuring that there is a hitch free festival.
The Ovu Elders Council, leadership of Ovu Development Union, ODU, led by Hon. (Chief) Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe and also the Executive Chairman, Ethiope East local government area of Delta state, on announcing the festival date, advised all the Erhues (warriors) to warn all their followers and suspected cultists not to be seen with guns, axe and other sophisticated weapons, adding that anyone caught with any weapons will serve as deterrent to others.
The Osedjo (Chief Priest) and the leadership of Ovu Development Union, ODU, led by Hon. (Chief) Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe said security personnel would be placed at strategic positions in the community, besically ovu junction, Ewhere-Agbarho road and Okpara road to ward off criminals and suspected cultists that would come to steal or cause trouble during the festival.
The Izomo-Agadagidi, however, commended the Okarhoro in Council, the Otota, the entire Chiefs, the leadership of Ovu Development Union, ODU, led by Hon. (Chief) Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe, the Onotu, head of the Erhues (warriors), Chief Monday Asakpa, the Odedigbu and the entire priests and princesses for their immense contribution to the community.
He noted that it was only through co-operation and oneness that the community would get the blessings of the Ovughere.
The Chief Priest said within the seven days of the festival, no burial ceremony in the community will be allowed and neighbouring communities be informed that no carrying of corpses, crusades, political rallies or birthday will be allowed throughout in Ovu community on festival day, February 14th, 2026.
