Thousands of protesters across Kaduna State gathered peacefully today in Kaduna metropolis, demanding the immediate release of former governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
The demonstrators, made up of youths, political supporters, and concerned residents, marched through major streets carrying placards with bold inscriptions such as “Respect Due Process,” “Release Our Leader,” and “Justice Must Prevail.”
Though security operatives were strategically deployed across the city to maintain law and order as the protest remained largely peaceful and organized.
The protest comes amid ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission regarding alleged misconduct during his tenure in office.
The protesters who frown at the continuous detention of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, insisted that he should be granted bail or charged in court without delay.
They stressed that his constitutional rights must be protected, and his investigation process should remain transparent and unbiased.
Some the protest leaders who addressed the crowd, urged participants to remain calm and law-abiding while emphasizing that their action was strictly peaceful.
Meanwhile, public reactions across the state remain divided, as others believe the law must be allowed to take its full course.
Authorities have heightened security presence in key areas, but commercial and daily activities continue normally.
