Senator Ede Dafinone has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to take firm steps to tackle insecurity across the country.
In a statement issued on February 26, 2026, Dafinone described Disu’s appointment as well-deserved, praising his professionalism, dedication, and years of committed service in the Nigeria Police Force. He said Disu’s rise through the ranks reflects discipline, courage, and strong leadership qualities.
The senator expressed confidence in the new Acting IGP’s ability to handle the challenges of modern policing, noting that his experience and integrity have earned him national trust.
Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, called on Disu to focus on pressing security concerns, especially kidnapping for ransom, banditry, and recurring clashes between farmers and herders.
He warned that these crimes continue to threaten lives, disrupt livelihoods, and weaken national stability.
He stressed that Nigerians expect stronger and more effective security measures under Disu’s leadership.
The lawmaker also pledged his support for efforts aimed at improving public safety, rebuilding trust in the police, and promoting peace across the country.
Dafinone wished the new Acting IGP success in office and expressed hope that his tenure would bring renewed confidence in policing nationwide.
