Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, has received a Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the development of the Urhobo Nation and his dedication to public service.
The honour was presented by the Urhobo Catholic Community of St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church during the Urhobo Cultural Day celebration held in Asaba, Delta State in December 2025.
The event, themed “Urhobo: Our Culture, Our Pride,” also featured the formal welcome of Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, the Catholic Bishop of the Warri Diocese, to the Asaba Region.
Presenting the award, the organisers praised Senator Dafinone for his continued efforts to promote the welfare of the Urhobo people and for attracting meaningful development projects to communities across the Delta Central Senatorial District.
In his response, Senator Dafinone thanked the Urhobo Catholic Community for the recognition, saying the award encourages him to keep working for the progress and unity of the Urhobo Nation.
He described the honour as both humbling and motivating, especially as he was recognised alongside other notable personalities including Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, Author Akpowowo, Fred Majemite, and Paul Evuarherhe.
