The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has called on youths to actively participate in politics to promote good governance and drive meaningful development in their communities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Rt. Hon. Guwor made this call on Friday during the inauguration of the National and Local Government Executives of the Ndoshimili Progressive Youth (NPY), saying youths have a pivotal role to play in shaping the future of the country.
Speaking at the event, held at Ashaka, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, the Speaker described the formation of the Ndoshimili Progressive Youth as a clear indication that young people remain the leaders of tomorrow, noting that their energy, creativity, and dedication are crucial to the nation’s growth and development.
“Youths must not stand on the sidelines of politics. Your energy, creativity, and commitment are needed to strengthen our democracy and promote development in our communities,” Guwor said.
Congratulating the newly inaugurated executives, Rt. Hon. Guwor, who chaired the inauguration ceremony, urged them to remain committed to the ideals of unity, discipline, and service while working collectively to strengthen grassroots political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I encourage you to remain focused on the values of unity and teamwork. Respect party leadership at all levels and ensure that your activities promote peaceful political engagement and effective grassroots mobilization,” he added.
The Speaker, flanked by the Leader of the House, Hon. In his remarks, the immediate past Governor of Delta State and Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of youths at the event, describing it as a positive signal of their readiness to shape the political future of the area.
“The Ndoshimili people played a major role in my political journey. I encourage you to remain supportive of the government of the day and continue to work together for the development of your communities,” Okowa stated.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the National Leader of the Ndoshimili Progressive Youth, Hon. Prince Emeka Osamuta, explained that the group was established as a socio-political platform aimed at fostering unity and strengthening youth leadership across the Ndokwa nation.
“This platform was not created for division or personal ambition. It is designed to promote unity, build leadership capacity, encourage transparency, and ensure that the voices of Ndoshimili youths are heard, respected, and valued,” Osamuta said.
The youthful Lawmaker urged members of the body to use the platform to support sons and daughters of the Ndokwa nation in positions of leadership and to build partnerships that would accelerate development across communities in Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, and Ukwuani local government areas.
