Delta CP Visits Ughelli Area Command, Reaffirms Commitment to Security

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, has continued his statewide familiarisation tour with a visit to Ughelli Area Command, where he charged officers and stakeholders to intensify efforts toward crime prevention and community policing.
The visit according to the CP forms part of his broader strategy to assess operational readiness, strengthen coordination, and build closer ties between the Police and host communities across the state.
Addressing officers and men at the Area Command headquarters, the CP emphasized discipline, professionalism, and intelligence-led policing as critical tools in tackling insecurity.
He urged personnel to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities of protecting lives and property.
CP Adesola also held interactive sessions with key stakeholders, including community leaders and local security groups, stressing the importance of collaboration in combating crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism.

According to him, interference by members of the public can compromise cases, adding that those who influence investigations sometimes turn around to criticize the police.
CP Adesola also warned against protecting criminals, noting that such actions could backfire in the future.
He advised officers of the command to remain professional and committed to their duties at all times.
In their responses, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, HRM Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi 111 welcomed the CP and assured him of the traditional institution’s support in maintaining peace and security in the area.
Local government chairmen present at the meeting commended the Commissioner’s message, describing it as timely.
They urged residents to support security agencies responsibly and respect the law.
This approach, he noted, aligns with his vision of community-based policing since assuming office.
The visit was part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Police Command to strengthen security architecture through direct engagement with Area Commands and grassroots stakeholders, ensuring a safer environment for all residence.
