Former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Chief Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, has donated modern National Identification Number (NIN) registration equipment to Owhelogbo Community in Isoko North Local Government Area to ease access for residents.
The donation is aimed at ending the long-standing hardship faced by villagers who previously had to travel far distances and endure delays to register for their NIN.
Speaking during the presentation, Macaulay said many people have been excluded from essential services such as banking, telecommunications, and government programmes due to lack of NIN. He noted that the initiative would help promote inclusion and improve livelihoods.
He also announced that trained registration agents would be deployed to key locations in the community, including the town hall, schools, and churches, to ensure smooth and widespread registration.
The Isoko North Coordinator of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Dr. Enahoro Michael, praised the effort, describing it as a strong example of how private individuals can support government efforts and reduce pressure on public facilities.
In his remarks, the President-General of Owhelogbo Community, Barrister Morrison Illiesure, thanked Macaulay for the intervention and urged residents to take full advantage of the opportunity.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve access to identity registration and support development in the community.
