Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has called on Urhobo people to strengthen their unity and support one another for collective progress.
The senator made the call while hosting the March edition of his “Meet-and-Greet” gathering in Abuja, which brought together Urhobo sons and daughters from different professional backgrounds.
Speaking at the event, Dafinone said the shared heritage of the Urhobo people should serve as a strong foundation for cooperation and mutual support.
He encouraged participants to interact freely, exchange ideas and build lasting professional relationships that would benefit the Urhobo nation.
He also urged Urhobo professionals to be deliberate about creating opportunities for one another wherever they find themselves, noting that helping one another grow would strengthen the community.
According to the senator, real progress can only be achieved when members of the community actively support one another, stressing that unity should go beyond words and reflect in practical actions.
A highlight of the gathering was the presentation of a book titled Handbook of Skill Acquisition Training and Empowerment Programmes by one of the guests, Dr. Benjamin Irikefe, to Senator Dafinone.
The senator commended the initiative, describing skill acquisition and empowerment as important tools for community development and youth growth.
Participants described the meeting as more than a networking event, saying it provided a platform for Urhobo professionals to connect, share ideas and strengthen the bond among their people.
The meet-and-greet initiative, which holds regularly, continues to promote collaboration and reinforce unity among Urhobo professionals across different sectors.
