The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has elected Chief Solomon Arenyeka as its new State Chairman, as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori charged the new executive to begin preparations for total victory in the 2027 general elections.
Chief Arenyeka emerged by consensus during the party’s State Congress held Tuesday at the Cenotaph in Asaba. Delegates affirmed the new State Working Committee (SWC) in line with party guidelines.
Other officers elected include Elder Moses Iduh as Deputy Chairman and Chief Efe Uko as State Secretary.
Chief Paulinus Akpeki was elected Delta Central Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba as Delta South Chairman and Engr. Daniel Ossai as Delta North Chairman. Elder Emmanuel Egbabor became State Organising Secretary, Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo as State Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Sobotie as State Woman Leader and Christopher Agali as State Youth Leader, among others.
Chairman of the State Congress Electoral Committee, Engr. Vita Abba, declared the executives elected after affirmation by delegates, noting that the process followed the party’s constitution.
Earlier, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, moved a motion for the dissolution of the outgoing executive led by Elder Omeni Sobotie. The motion, seconded by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, was unanimously adopted.
Addressing party members, Governor Oborevwori thanked the outgoing leadership for guiding the party through what he described as a transition period after the political realignment of April 2025. He said the decision to align Delta State with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strengthened the party in the state.
The governor praised members for conducting peaceful congresses across the 270 wards, 25 local government areas and at the state level, describing it as proof of internal democracy.
He urged the new executive to hold regular meetings, strengthen grassroots mobilization and work towards winning all elective positions in 2027, including the Presidency, National Assembly, Governorship and State House of Assembly.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Arenyeka thanked party leaders and members for their confidence in him. He promised to lead with integrity, transparency and teamwork, while building unity within the party.
He assured that under his leadership, the Delta APC would work hard to deliver victory for all its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The congress attracted party leaders and stakeholders from across the state, ending in an atmosphere of celebration and renewed commitment as the party begins preparations for the next electoral cycle.
