The Delta State Honorable Commissioner for Transport, Hon Onoriode Agofure, has convened a strategic and comprehensive training session with officers of the Delta State Municipal Agency (DESMA) on the operations and practical application of the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) System.
The training which held on Wednesday, provided an in-depth overview of how the ANPR technology functions, including its data capture mechanisms, real-time plate identification process, database integration, and its role in detecting traffic violations and non-compliance.
During the exercise, Officers were guided through both the technical and operational aspects of the system to ensure they possess the requisite knowledge and skills for effective field deployment.
According to the Honorable Commissioner, the objective of the training is to strengthen traffic management across Delta State by improving monitoring capabilities, increasing compliance with traffic regulations, and enhancing enforcement efficiency.
He reiterated that technology-driven solutions such as the ANPR system will significantly reduce manual bottlenecks, minimize human error, and promote transparency in enforcement processes.
“The introduction of the ANPR system marks a new phase in our drive toward smarter traffic management.
It is not just about enforcement; it is about ensuring accountability, protecting law-abiding road users, and creating a safer and more orderly transport system across Delta State in line with the more agenda of Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori,” he stated.
The Ministry under the leadership of Hon Agofure Onoriode, remains committed to promoting safer roads, improving public safety, streamlining enforcement procedures, and delivering more efficient and people-centered services across Delta State.
