Ughelli, Delta State – Dr. Charles Apoki, an international speaker and advocate for good governance, has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Advocate Publication Annual Lecture Series. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Wetland Hotel, Ughelli.
The announcement was made by Olorogun Abraham Ogbodo, Chairman of the Advocate Lecture Series Board of Council (ALSBC), in a press release signed by Shedrack Onitsha, Secretary of the Board.
Dr. Apoki will address the theme: “From Ballot to Patronage: Why Electoral Victory Fails to Deliver Good Governance in Nigeria.”
His keynote will be followed by a panel discussion with experts from the judiciary, law enforcement, and civil society, who will examine the challenges of political patronage, godfatherism, and weak institutional oversight in Nigeria.
The lecture aims to explore how elections often fail to translate into accountable leadership, and to propose reforms that could restore public trust and improve governance.
A distinguished graduate of the University of Ibadan College of Medicine, Dr. Apoki also holds a Master’s in Public Administration.
An ordained clergyman and sought-after conference speaker, he has addressed audiences across Africa and Europe and is the convener of the Word and Wisdom Conference, a leadership development platform.
He is also the proprietor of Petra Christian Academy and a seasoned marriage counsellor.
