The Ewheyae Isoko Association of Nigeria Worldwide has condemned the violent attack on women during the Alue-Do Festival in Ozoro, Delta State, describing it as a shocking and unacceptable act.
The group said hoodlums disrupted the annual cultural celebration, assaulting women and creating panic in what is usually a peaceful and lively event.
Speaking on the incident, the President General, Mrs. Elizabeth Oghale Awoh (JP), expressed anger and disappointment, noting that the attack goes against the values and traditions of the Isoko people. She said the development has left the association deeply disturbed.
The association, however, commended the quick response of authorities, including the Delta State Government, the police, local government officials, and traditional leaders in Ozoro Kingdom.
Ewheyae Isoko called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged security agencies to arrest and prosecute those responsible to serve as a deterrent to others.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to protecting women, promoting education for the girl-child, and ensuring a safe environment for all members of the community.
