As part of efforts to ensure unity and development of the Oil reach Ijaro community Kokori in Ethiope East LGA, of Delta State, the lingering dispute among the Elders council of the Ijaro community Kokori has been finally resolved on the 24th day of January, 2026 respectively.
However, the dispute which was resolved at the Ijaro community Town Hall was witnessed by the Leaders, Elders women, youth, including other well to do sons and daughters of the Community.
Addressing the Elders council during the meeting, the Most Eldest man of the Community Pa. Odukuye Ahwieh David who presided over the meeting, said, “let me first and foremost commend each and every one of us who in one way or the other gathered here today in respect of this elders meeting, l thank you all”
Continuing “for some time now there was a dispute among us the Elders of our great Ijaro community, and if we should continue in that way we will lost so many things in the community especially what is due us from the Heritage Energy Operational Service Limited (HEOSL), and others, and for us not to lose more than that, that is why l called us here today to resolve the dispute and move forward” Pa. Odukuye asserted.
However, Chief (Elder), Sosorobia Enakerakpo, Elder Vincent Akpobome, Elder Umukoro Kurekure and others who also spoke during the meeting supported the Most Eldest man Odukuye that the dispute be resolved they described it as a welcome development.
However, the dispute was resolved as followed, “that the Elders council have to recognised Pa. Odukuye Awhie David as the Most Eldest man of the community and at the same time acknowledges his wisdom, experience and his leadership qualities”, that the Elders council are committed to supporting and advising the head of the community in his discharge of his duties.
“That, the community members are urged to rally behind the head of the community and work together towards the progress and development of Ijaro community, and also the Elders have as well agreed to work together and speak with one voice at all time on any issue affecting the community respectively.
However, the Most Eldest man of the community Elder Odukuye Ahwieh David, Elder Vincent Akpobome, Elder Umukoro Kurekure, Elder Michael Oratu, Elder Chief Soso Enakerakpo, Elder Oduyavweta Auto, Elder Eshashare, the Secretary of the Elders council Elder Efetobore Ogoroboba, Elder Vincent Okpubeku, the spokesman of Ijaro community Elder Johnson Ighofimoni and other Elders were also noticed during the meeting.
