Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has described Nigeria as blessed to have a humble and compassionate First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, who genuinely cares for the poor and vulnerable.
He spoke on Thursday at a grand homecoming reception held in her honour at the palace of the Ogiame Atuwatse III in Warri.
Addressing a large crowd, Oborevwori praised the First Lady’s record in the Senate, saying she stood firm in the Red Chamber and promoted policies that positively impacted Nigerians.
He noted that this was her third official visit to Delta State in two years, recalling her role in launching the Renewed Hope Initiative empowerment programme in Asaba and the Free to Shine programme, where 10,000 professional kits were distributed to midwives in the South-South.
The governor commended her respect for traditional rulers and her continued support for Delta State, assuring her that the state stands firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda.
In her remarks, the First Lady described the visit as an emotional homecoming and thanked the Olu of Warri for the honour bestowed on her. She announced a N50 million empowerment package for 1,000 petty traders in Warri Kingdom and pledged further support for youths.
The colourful event attracted top government officials, traditional leaders and well-wishers from across the state.
