Benjamin Elue, former Deputy Governor of Delta State, has died at the age of 85.
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing him as a loyal patriot, seasoned administrator and respected elder statesman whose service to the state will not be forgotten.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, the Governor said the news of Elue’s death came as a shock but noted that he lived a fulfilled life dedicated to Delta State and Nigeria.
Elue served as Deputy Governor to James Ibori from 1999 to 2007. During his time in office, he was known for his humility, dedication and strong loyalty to the administration.
Governor Oborevwori also described the late Elue as a renowned teacher who mentored many young people and contributed greatly to the growth of democracy in Delta State, especially in the early years of the Fourth Republic.
He praised Elue’s commitment to peace, unity and development in the state, saying his legacy of honour and integrity would remain evergreen.
The Governor extended his condolences to the Elue family, the people of Aniocha North, Delta North Senatorial District and the entire Delta State, and prayed for God to grant his soul eternal rest and comfort those he left behind.
