Sheriff Oborevwori has reaffirmed his strong commitment to developing riverine communities in Delta State, as key infrastructure projects progress in Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
The Commissioner in charge of the Directorate for Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark, gave the assurance during an inspection tour of ongoing projects, stressing that the governor’s commitment under the MORE Agenda is “irrevocable.”
Among the projects inspected were the 3.1-kilometre Kolokolo–Tisun road in Warri North and the Oporoza Model Secondary School in Warri South-West.
Clark said the governor is determined to ensure that people living in riverine areas enjoy the same standard of infrastructure as those in urban centres, despite the challenges of the creek terrain.“This is the deep creek of Delta State.
Some believed nothing meaningful could be achieved here because of the terrain. But for Governor Oborevwori, terrain is not a barrier. He is breaking the jinx,” he said.
The commissioner explained that the Kolokolo–Tisun road was awarded to a competent contractor to guarantee quality and durability, adding that the state government would not accept substandard work.
The General Manager of Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited, Amb. Muobor Krubu, said the road project was awarded in September 2025 and is expected to be completed within 12 months. He assured that the company would deliver the project on schedule.
Clark also noted that work on the Oporoza Model Secondary School is progressing, although the contractor is facing challenges due to the difficult terrain. When completed, the school will have hostels for male and female students, staff quarters, a library, science laboratories, administrative offices and other modern facilities.
Community leaders, including Gabriel Tetsola (Kolokolo), Frederick Kuke (Tisun), Emmanuel Ebi (Oporoza) and Chief Demebi Izirimi, thanked the Delta State Government for what they described as the most significant development projects ever seen in their communities.
They pledged continued support for the governor and commended the administration’s efforts to bring balanced development to all parts of the state.
