The Nigeria Police Force has carried out a major reshuffle, leading to a change in leadership at the Delta State Command.
Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, has been redeployed to the Training Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
He is now replaced by Yemi John Oyeniyi, who takes over as the new Commissioner of Police in Delta State.
The changes were approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Disu, as part of efforts to improve efficiency, strengthen leadership, and enhance service delivery across the country.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the postings are aimed at ensuring a more effective command structure and better use of personnel nationwide.
The reshuffle also affected several senior officers. Many Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) were assigned to key departments such as Operations, Training, Research and Planning, and Armament at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Others were posted to different police zones and special units across the country.
Similarly, several Commissioners of Police (CPs) were reassigned to various state commands and departments, including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Adamawa, and the Federal Capital Territory.
The police leadership says the move is part of a broader strategy to reposition the Force for improved performance and public safety.
