The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Usman Mohammed Ankwai.
Guwor described the news as shocking and painful, especially at a critical time for the country. He said the late Ankwai was a committed lawmaker, a humble leader, and a brother in service to the nation.
According to him, Ankwai died in Cairo after a brief illness. He noted that the late Speaker’s contributions to the development of Kebbi State and his role in the Conference of Speakers would be greatly missed.
Guwor said the loss is not only for the people and government of Kebbi State but also for the entire legislative community in Nigeria.
He extended his condolences to the family of the late Speaker, members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, and all those affected by the loss.
He also prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased and grant him eternal rest, while giving his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un — To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return,” Guwor said.
