The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun (Barr.) Jaro Movudu Egbo, has approved the immediate dissolution of the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Otovwodo Motor Park.
The dissolved executive was previously led by Comrade Solomon Esharive.
The directive was contained in an official statement issued by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Pastor Goodluck Erikefe Unuavworho.
According to the statement, the action was taken in line with the powers granted to local governments under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which empowers them to administer and regulate motor parks within their jurisdictions.
The council explained that the decision was taken to ensure effective governance, maintain public peace, and guarantee the smooth management of activities at the Otovwodo Motor Park.
Following the dissolution, members of the former executive led by Comrade Esharive have been directed to stay away from the motor park with immediate effect.
To ensure continuity in operations, the council also announced the appointment of a seven-member Caretaker Committee to manage the affairs of the park pending further directives.
The committee will be headed by Comrade Austine Asawhare as Chairman, while Comrade Ebruphiyor Oharisi will serve as Secretary. Comrade Apa Akpodamure was appointed Treasurer, with Comrade Samuel Ememejere as a member.
Other members of the committee include Comrade Orowhe Eloho, Comrade Omonigho Urhie, and Comrade Ogheneovo Jewo.
The Ughelli North Local Government Council urged transport operators, stakeholders, and the general public to cooperate with the caretaker committee as it works to maintain order and ensure smooth operations at the motor park.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring proper coordination of motor park activities across the local government area.
