Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has received two major awards—“Governor of the Year on Urban Renewal” and “Outstanding Governor of the Year”—from Independent Newspapers at a ceremony in Lagos.
Reacting, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, congratulated the governor, describing the awards as well-deserved.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor said the recognition reflects Oborevwori’s strong leadership, focus on infrastructure, and people-oriented governance.
He noted that ongoing urban renewal projects across major towns in Delta State—such as Warri, Asaba, Ughelli, and Sapele—have improved roads, reduced traffic, boosted business, and enhanced living conditions.
Guwor added that the awards also highlight the governor’s inclusive leadership style and prudent management of resources.
He assured the governor of continued support from the State Assembly to sustain development and deliver more benefits to the people.
The Speaker also prayed for more wisdom and strength for Oborevwori to continue his work and finish his tenure successfully.
