The political team of Reverend Francis Waive has issued a strongly worded statement in response to what it described as persistent attacks and misinformation allegedly emanating from the media team of former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.
In the statement titled “Statement from Revd Waive Political Team to the Omo-Agege Media Team,” the group said it had maintained restraint over the years despite repeated provocations, emphasizing that Reverend Waive had never engaged in personal attacks or disrespectful comments against Omo-Agege.
“It is well known that it is not in our character to respond to insults and falsehoods propagated against God’s servant,” the statement read, adding that since the 2022 party primaries, Waive had consistently avoided confrontational rhetoric.
The team accused the media aides of fostering division and creating unnecessary political tensions around their principal, alleging that their actions were counterproductive.
According to the statement, Waive had previously downplayed the situation, suggesting in 2022 that Omo-Agege might not have been fully aware of the activities of his media handlers.
However, the group expressed concern over what it termed a “renewed onslaught,” stating that it now believes the continued attacks may have the backing of their principal.
The statement further referenced the political fallout that led to
Waive’s exit from the camp, describing it as the result of sustained hostility and internal strife.
It argued that Waive’s decision to leave was driven by a need to avoid what it called a “toxic environment” marked by harassment and humiliation.
Despite the ongoing criticisms, the team maintained that the alleged smear campaigns had failed to damage Waive’s reputation, urging the Omo-Agege media team to redirect its efforts toward promoting its principal instead of engaging in what it described as negative propaganda.
The statement concluded with a caution that continued attacks would yield no positive outcomes, while reaffirming Waive’s commitment to maintaining decorum in the political space.
