The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated Macdonald Igbadiwei on his emergence as President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).
In a statement issued in Asaba on Monday, April 13, 2026, Guwor described Igbadiwei as an experienced administrator and strong advocate of the Ijaw cause, noting that his leadership comes at a critical time for the Ijaw nation.
The Speaker also congratulated members of the newly elected National Executive Committee, urging them to embrace unity, peace, and purposeful engagement in their leadership.
He stressed that the progress of the Ijaw people depends on cohesion and strategic collaboration among all stakeholders, including political leaders, governors, and lawmakers.
Guwor further called on the new INC leadership to prioritise environmental protection in the Niger Delta and intensify advocacy for resource justice, while building partnerships with other ethnic groups and the Federal Government.
He encouraged the leadership to promote education, enterprise, and innovation among Ijaw youths as part of efforts to secure a better future.
The Speaker assured the new executive of the support of the Delta State House of Assembly and prayed for a successful tenure that will bring progress, unity, and renewed hope to the Ijaw nation.
