Senator Ede Dafinone has called on the police to quickly investigate and prosecute any officer responsible for the killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Million Ogidi in Delta State.
Ogidi, an indigene of Ujevwu in Udu Local Government Area, was reportedly shot dead on April 26, 2026, in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area. His death has sparked anger and grief among residents.
Reacting to the incident, Dafinone described the killing as “heartbreaking and unacceptable,” stressing that security officers must protect lives, not take them.
He urged the Inspector General of Police and the Delta State Commissioner of Police to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation.
The senator also extended condolences to Ogidi’s family and the Udu community, noting that no parent should lose a child in such a tragic way.
Dafinone assured that his office will monitor the case closely to ensure justice is served.
He also advised residents to remain calm while calling on security personnel to respect human rights and act professionally.
The incident has continued to draw reactions, with many people demanding justice and reforms in security operations.
