As the 2027 general elections draw nearer, political temperatures permutations are on the rise in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, with a homegrown politician and scientist, Mr. Simon Avwerosuo Ohwo, positioning himself as the much-needed alternative to deliver effective representation for Ughelli North Constituency 1.
Ohwo, an indigene of Orogun Ward 1, has thrown his hat into the ring for the Delta State House of Assembly seat, vowing to end what he describes as four years of under performance.
Relating some of his plans and visions to supporters, Ohwo who boasts of his robust political résumé, emphasized his grassroots credentials, familiarity with the terrain and local investments as key strengths.
According to him, “I am the only alternative needed to attract positive representation to our people after enduring poor services for four years.
“Politics is about structure, grassroot influence, commitment, dedication and above all, your loyalty to party policies and leaders.” he said.
Simon Ohwo, who was once the ward chairman of Orogun Ward 1, of the defunct PDP before the mass defection to the APC, was also Special Assistant (SA) to the Delta State Governor and other notable position within the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure.
He argues that his grassroot and national experience in politics with his intelligence and exposure equipped him uniquely to champion the needs of his community.
A medical laboratory scientist and successful businessman with enterprises firmly rooted in Ughelli North, Ohwo is also Ph.D student and has long been a rallying point for locals and the grassroot.
His ambition to contest for the House of Assembly seat is not only to provide employment, basic social amenities but also, to demonstrate a commitment to economic empowerment to his people.
“As a home boy who understands our pains and potentials, I will bring development that touches every household.
“It is Community First: Our People, Our Progress.”and for the past 3 years, our people from constituency has not felt the impulse of representation.
“My decision to join the race is as a result of unmet expectations in infrastructure, youths empowerment, insecurity and poor representation of the incumbent.
Meanwhile, APC leaders in Ughelli North have pledged unity for the 2027 polls, signaling a competitive primary ahead, but so far, Simon Avwerosuo
Ohwo’s ambition to run has gained traction as he has been adjudge as the “better choice” for the constituency.
As the APC primaries approaches, Mr. Simon Avwerosuo Ohwo antecedents has resonated amid calls for fresh representation.
He is assuring constituents that with his track record, he will surely move Ughelli North Constituency 1 forward, and together.
Political pundits have postulated that the 2027 election race will test grassroots popularity and the power of incumbency.
Ohwo is a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants Nigeria (FIMCN), Fellow of the Artificial Intelligence Management and Finance Institute of Nigeria (AIMFIN), and an Associate Fellow of the Institute of Health Science, Research, and Administration of Nigeria (IHSRAN).
He has wealth of experience of over a decade in Medical laboratory practice with a specialty in laboratory analysis and investigations and a few years in active political participation, environmental sanitation, and Business management.
He is skilled in multitasking, meeting targets, motivating staff, goal-oriented, and Dynamic in fast-paced environments with excellent problem-solving and communication skills and collaborate effectively with lawmakers to deliver exceptional dividends of democracy.
